Most non-profit organizations, including those in the sustainability sector, utilize the Theory of Change framework to establish, strategize, and assess their change activities [14, 26]. The Theory of Change is a detailed explanation and visual representation of the expected process and reasons behind a desired change in a specific setting. The user's text is "[5]". Both the Theory of Change and Agile methodologies recognize that unless a plan is confirmed through implementation, it is based on assumptions, and all assumptions are subject to change until they are verified by actual delivery. Hence, it is imperative that both planning and evaluation are adaptable to change and integrate new knowledge. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the Theory of Change and explores its potential for alignment and integration with Agile methodologies. The agile community is increasingly assuming accountability for sustainability and is demonstrating its support for the sustainability sector through the second iteration of the "Workshop on Agile Sustainability" at the XP 2022 conference. Nevertheless, while providing assistance to the sustainability sector, agile practitioners are expected to come across the Theory of Change and must grasp its concepts. This document presents a comprehensive explanation of the Theory of Change and establishes the correlations between the Theory of Change approach and agile mindsets, methodologies, and practices. This will particularly assist and motivate agile practitioners to endorse the sustainability industry.
