The globe has entered a period of flux and transformation as a result of the combined forces of changes and a pandemic, both of which had not been seen in a century. 2021 will be a genuinely historic year for China. We have accomplished the historically significant task of eradicating extreme poverty, as well as the First Centenary Goal of fully constructing a modern socialist nation. We also set out on a new path in pursuit of the Second Centenary Goal of doing so.
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) sought to transform into a cutting-edge platform for global inclusion, open cooperation, and mutual growth and benefit in 2021. Under the annual theme of "Green Recovery and High Quality Development," CCICED has carried out the plan as endorsed by Executive Members. The purpose of this time is to offer recommendations for advancing China's environmental and development initiatives and to offer insight and strength in the effort to create a community with a shared destiny for humanity as well as a clean and beautiful globe.

In an effort to foster green transition and transformation and improve the ability to establish consensus on green development, the CCICED Secretariat releases the CCICED Annual Policy Report each year. The Annual Policy Report is a flagship publication that summarizes policy recommendations that the CCICED has suggested to the Chinese government, as well as research outputs, papers, and reports from Chinese and international CCICED teams. For the benefit of decision makers at all levels, academics, and the general public, it presents the views and opinions of Chinese and foreign Members, Special Advisors, and experts on hot-button topics in the environment and development.
The 2021 CCICED Annual Policy Report incorporates the policy recommendation proposed to the Chinese government “A Great Transition Toward a Green Development Epoch: Low carbon, inclusive, and harmonious with nature”; the 2021issues paper “The Green Development Epoch”, which is written by CCICED’s Chief Advisors; research reports from nine Special Policy Studies, including “Global Climate Governance and China’s Role”, “Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Conservation”, “Global Ocean Governance and Ecological Civilization”, “Green Reshaping of China’s Urbanization in the context of Global Carbon Neurality”, “Green Transition and Sustainable Social Governance”, “Major Green Technology Innovation and Implementation Mechanisms”, and “Enhancing Environmental Management for BRI Projects to Boost Green BRI and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, “Global Green Supply Chains”, “Green Finance”; Scoping study report on “Managing River Areas in Times of Climate Change”; Special Policy Report on “Nature-based Solutions” and Report on “Gender Mainstreaming in SPS Research for the Period 2020–2021”.
