The World Health Organization (WHO) proclaimed the coronavirus-induced disease (COVID-19) to be a pandemic on March 11, 2020. Globally, this pandemic has caused the biggest interruption to the education sector. On the other hand, in recent years, this crisis has also led to revolutionary changes in the worldwide education system. Online learning has emerged as the most practical delivery method for lectures and discussions thanks to technological advancements. Due to this drastic change, conducting laboratory sessions for students in a setting that upholds social separation proved difficult. On the other hand, the only way to give the preclinical dentistry laboratory exercises worldwide was via online method. This study describes some of the cutting-edge methods used to provide online preclinical dental laboratory sessions for University of Sharjah College of Dental Medicine's Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) students. The purpose of the study was to compare the performance of students in dental preclinical labs before and after the introduction of innovative practices using an online medium, as measured by skills and knowledge. The study's findings demonstrated that, when compared to the initial method of onsite lab delivery, the BDS1 students' overall performance in the preclinical laboratories following the adoption of novel practices was greater (p = 0.000). With the advent of online monitoring of tooth morphology labs, students demonstrated improved tooth-carving skills (p = 0.000). Furthermore, there was no discernible improvement in BDS2 students' performance in dental anatomy and histology laboratories when they were taught online (p = 0.01). Despite the fact that COVID-19 struck suddenly, it contributed to the development of creative digital solutions that made teaching and learning in dental school easier.
