The significance of global climate change within the international agenda is steadily growing. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and the need for short-term recovery, there exists a general agreement among nations to actively engage in the implementation of international conventions, enhance climate targets, and undertake tangible measures. Against this backdrop, the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) took place in Glasgow, United Kingdom, following a one-year postponement, and successfully attained the anticipated outcomes. This study undertakes a comprehensive assessment of the efficacy of the COP26 through the utilization of observation, discussion, and analysis. Furthermore, it endeavors to forecast the trajectory of climate discussions subsequent to the COP26. The COP26 conference has successfully attained a comprehensive and equitable set of outcomes, owing to the collaborative endeavors of all participating entities. The conclusion of the meeting signified the culmination of a six-year period of negotiations about the operational guidelines for the Paris Agreement. The COP26 conference represents a significant milestone in the realm of global climate governance, following the successful implementation of the Paris Agreement. The Glasgow Climate Pact effectively solidified the international agreement to expedite climate initiatives during the coming decade. Additionally, significant progress was made in reaching agreements on reducing coal usage, controlling methane emissions, and putting a stop to deforestation. In the aftermath of COP26, it remains imperative to undertake tangible measures to effectively execute the provisions of the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Climate Pact. This entails establishing strategies to expedite the reduction of CO2 emissions and persistently pursuing advancements in critical areas such as financing, technology, adaptation, and collaboration. It is crucial to prevent the exacerbation of international conflicts and instead foster collective efforts in managing the intricate interplay between energy security, carbon mitigation, and development. Moreover, it is essential to facilitate the attainment of sustainable development objectives, including climate-related targets, across all nations. China is committed to upholding the current multilateral mechanisms and processes of climate governance. It will persist in implementing tangible measures to address climate change, advance its comprehensive transition towards sustainability, foster global collaboration on achieving carbon neutrality, and make constructive contributions to the global governance of climate-related issues.
